Akatsi North District Assembly
The Akatsi North District Assembly, located in the Volta Region of Ghana, is one of the eighteen districts in the region. It was originally part of the larger Akatsi District but was split and created as a separate district on 28th June 2012. The district is situated in the northern part of the Volta Region, with its capital town being Ave Dakpa.
The creation of the Akatsi North District, along with other new districts, was a result of the government’s aim to implement its policies of local governance effectively. The large size of some of the existing districts, including the then larger Akatsi District, hindered the government’s efforts to fully benefit the citizens. Therefore, the district assembly was established to ensure better governance and development in the region.
The Akatsi North District is located in the southeastern part of the Volta Region. It is bordered by the Anlo District Council to the south and the Akatsi South District to the west. The district is home to several villages and communities, contributing to the diverse cultural and social fabric of the region.
