Asante Akim North District Assembly
The Asante Akim North District Assembly, with its capital in Agogo, was carved from Asante Akim North and forms part of the new districts and municipalities created in 2012. These districts and municipalities were inaugurated simultaneously on June 28th, 2012.
The President, HE JEA Mills, created 46 new districts through an Executive Instrument (EI). This brought the total number of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to 216, all of which are operational with immediate effect.
The creation of these new districts was necessary due to the large size of some of the existing 170 MMDAs. The government needed to implement its policies of local governance more effectively for the benefit of the entire citizenry.
The Asante Akim North District Assembly, in conjunction with www.ghanadistricts.com, is in the process of collecting relevant data concerning its location, size, topography, drainage, climate, vegetation, geology, soil, social infrastructure, and economy.
