Christ Apostolic University College
The Christ Apostolic University College (CAUC) is a prestigious institution located in Kumasi, Ghana. Established in 1917 by the Christ Apostolic Church International, the university aims to bring salvation in Christ to all individuals by preaching and teaching the gospel of Christ as outlined in the Holy Scriptures. In addition to its spiritual mission, the university is committed to promoting socioeconomic development and fulfilling its social responsibilities to its members and the general public through the provision of educational and social facilities.
The genesis of the college can be traced back to an existing Bible School for training pastors. However, the training facility was only used intermittently, leaving it vacant for the majority of the year. In March 2007, at an emergency General Council/Synod meeting, the idea of establishing a university was conceptualized. In October 2007, the General Council/Synod of the Christ Apostolic Church International passed a resolution to begin the process of offering tertiary degree programs using the existing facility in Kwadaso, Kumasi.
The National Accreditation Board granted the Christ Apostolic University College approval for a 3-year authorization, effective from February 1, 2010. This authorization allowed the university to commence and continue its preparation for accreditation. After completing the necessary preparations and processes, the Christ Apostolic University College was granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board on February 15, 2011. The university also received approval for affiliation to the University of Cape Coast in July 2010. CAUC officially started its academic activities in September 2011.
The Christ Apostolic University College offers a wide range of academic programs that are integrated with specialized Christian-based teachings. The university aims to prepare a community of devout and well-grounded scholars with talents and expertise that will garner national and international recognition. The programs offered at CAUC are designed to contribute towards the capacity building of the society by equipping students with marketable job skills.
