A simple guide to tracking a parcel in Ghana - where to find your tracking number, how to track DHL, FedEx, Aramex and Ghana Post, and what to do if it is stuck.

On this page

To track a parcel in Ghana, find the tracking or waybill number on your receipt or booking email, then enter it on the carrier’s website or app. DHL, FedEx (through IAS Ghana) and Aramex each have their own tracking tools, and Ghana Post offers tracking with email or text notifications. If a parcel stalls at customs, the carrier’s local office can tell you what is needed to release it.

Where do I find my tracking number?

Your tracking number, sometimes called a waybill or airway bill number, is issued when the parcel is booked. Look on the shipping receipt from the counter, the confirmation email or text from the carrier, or the label on the parcel itself. Every major carrier issues one at booking, so if you sent or bought something and have no number, ask the sender or shop for it before anything else.

What do the tracking statuses mean?

Common statuses read as a journey: booked or label created, picked up, in transit, arrived at a facility, out for delivery, and delivered. For international parcels you may also see a customs status while the item clears at the destination. If the status has not changed for a couple of days on an international shipment, customs clearance is the usual reason, not a lost parcel.

What do I do if my parcel is stuck or delayed?

TRY THIS TODAY: work through these steps in order.

  • Re-check the number. One wrong digit shows no result. Copy it exactly from the receipt.
  • Read the last status. If it says held at customs, the carrier usually needs a document or duty payment from the recipient.
  • Contact the local office. The Ghana branch can explain what is needed and how to pay any charges. Import charges on goods are covered in our shipping to Ghana costs guide.
  • Keep records. Note dates and names in case you need to escalate or claim.

Frequently asked questions

How do I track a DHL parcel in Ghana?

Enter your DHL tracking number on the DHL website or the MyDHL app. DHL provides real-time, door-to-door tracking with a delivery signature where available (Source: DHL Express, 2026).

Can I track a Ghana Post parcel?

Yes. Ghana Post offers package tracking along with delivery notifications by email or text message (Source: Ghana Post, 2026).

Why has my tracking not updated?

On international parcels, a paused status usually means the item is clearing customs at the destination. Give it a day or two, then contact the carrier’s local office if it does not move.

I lost my tracking number. What can I do?

Ask the sender or the shop you bought from to resend it, since they booked the shipment. Without a number, the carrier can sometimes trace a parcel using the sender and recipient details.
