How to read this table

Import duty is the ECOWAS Common External Tariff band, charged on the CIF value: cost plus insurance plus freight. Ghana runs five bands, 0%, 5%, 10%, 20% and 35%, and the band follows the HS code rather than the name of the product.

VAT-rated tells you whether the line carries VAT, NHIL and the GETFund Levy. Where it does, VAT is charged at the current standard rate of 15% on CIF plus duty plus NHIL plus GETFund, and NHIL and GETFund are charged at 2.5% each on CIF plus duty. Where it does not, none of the three applies to the line.

Excise appears only on a handful of lines, essentially alcoholic drinks, aerated and mineral waters, and tobacco. It is shown where GRA publishes it.

Two things to know about the source data. GRA's lookup returns the full 10-digit code for HS chapters 01 to 21, but for chapter 22 upwards it returns the 4-digit heading only, so the heading is what is shown for those lines. And the VAT column in GRA's lookup still carries the pre-2023 rate, which is why it is presented here as a rated / not-rated flag and the current 15% rate is applied in the calculators rather than the figure in the column.

This is a reference tool, not a ruling. Classification, valuation and any relief are decided at declaration. Confirm the code with a licensed declarant before you ship.
