Applications for the Ghana Police Service’s 2025/26 intake closed on 19 December 2025, and no new intake had been officially announced as of 19 October 2026[1]. For that intake, applicants had to be Ghanaian by birth, of good character with no criminal record, physically and medically fit to Police standards, and at least 173 cm tall for men or 163 cm for women. General Duty recruits also had to be 18 to 30 years old by 1 November 2025 and hold five SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English and Mathematics[2].
Updated 19 October 2026
Is recruitment open now?
No. As of 19 October 2026, the Ghana Police Service is not taking new applications. The 2025/26 application window on the Ministry of the Interior’s Centralised Services E-Recruitment Portal (C-SERP) opened on 17 November 2025 and closed on 19 December 2025[1]. We found no official announcement of a newer intake from the Ghana Police Service or the Ministry of the Interior after that date.
The Service is still working through applicants from the 2025/26 exercise. On 1 August 2026 the Police said that exercise would continue in batches until 2028, that applicants who passed the medical but had not yet been called for validation remained under consideration, and that applicants should rely only on official Police communication[3].
The C-SERP pages still show the 2025/26 requirements and an “Apply Now” button, so a working portal page is not proof that a new intake is open. To catch the next intake, watch for an announcement from the Ghana Police Service (police.gov.gh and its verified social media accounts) or the Ministry of the Interior, then check cserpgh.com before you buy a voucher. A downloadable “forms” file, a blog post or a WhatsApp broadcast is not proof that a cycle is open.
Requirement lists for Police recruitment circulate online every year, and many are copies of older notices. The figures below come from the requirements the Ghana Police Service published for its 2025/26 intake on the Ministry of the Interior’s Centralised Services E-Recruitment Portal (C-SERP), with the year stated wherever an older notice is quoted. They describe that intake, not an open call, and the next intake may change them.
Who could apply in the 2025/26 intake?
These general requirements applied to every category in the 2025/26 intake[2]:
- Nationality: Ghanaian by birth.
- Character: of good character, without a criminal record, and never dismissed from any public service or other employment.
- Age: no older than the limit for your category (see the table below) on 1 November 2025. That date comes from the Ghana Police Service requirements page on the C-SERP portal, which uses it in the general requirements and in every category[2]. The shorter Police summary on the main C-SERP site lists only the general requirements and gives 31 December 2025, with no explanation for the difference[4]. When a new intake opens, check which date its notice uses.
- Height: at least 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm) for men and 5 feet 4 inches (163 cm) for women. The 2016 notice used the same figures[5].
- Medical fitness: physically and medically fit by Ghana Police Service standards.
- Basic education: five BECE passes including English and Mathematics, plus the qualification for your category.
- Graduates: National Service completed.
- Training: ready to undergo basic Police training and other training.
The C-SERP Secretariat described the 2025/26 exercise as free, fair and strictly merit-based, and warned that anyone promising “protocol” placements or charging for recruitment slots is a fraudster[1].
What were the age limits and qualifications in 2025/26?
These are the limits published for the 2025/26 intake[2]. Ages are maximums unless a range is given.
| Category | Age (2025/26 intake) | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| General Duty recruits | 18 to 30 | Five SSSCE/WASSCE passes including Mathematics and English |
| Tradesmen (mechanics, electricians, plumbers and masons, painters and sign writers, tailors, carpenters, welders, refrigeration) | Up to 35 | A trade certificate for that trade, such as GES (COTVET) Certificate I or II, NVTI Proficiency or City and Guilds |
| Drivers and riders | Up to 35 | Five SSSCE/WASSCE passes or a technical/vocational certificate, plus a Driver’s Licence B or above and a Rider’s Licence A, each at least two years old |
| Band | Up to 35 | Five SSSCE/WASSCE passes and the ability to sight-read music or play a woodwind or brass instrument |
| Sportsmen | 18 to 30 | A proven record in a recognised sport, plus sports trials |
| Graduates (General Duty), degree holders | Up to 35 | Bachelor’s degree, at least Second Class Lower Division, from a recognised university |
| Graduates (General Duty), HND and diploma holders | Up to 32 | HND or diploma from a recognised technical university or a GTEC-accredited institution |
| Medical doctors | Up to 35 | MB ChB/BDS, permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council and one year of post-qualification experience |
| Medical specialists | Up to 40 | Membership or fellowship (GCPS/WACS/WACP) and two years of post-qualification experience |
| Nurses | Up to 32 (HND/certificate) or 35 (degree) | Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council |
| Chaplains and imams | Up to 40 | First degree in Theology, or in Islamic Studies with excellent Arabic, and good standing with a recognised religious body |
Pharmacists, laboratory scientists, physician assistants and other health professionals had their own entries on the portal, mostly with a limit of 35 and registration with their professional council. Requirements change between intakes: the 2016 notice capped age at 25 (on 1 April 2016) and asked for six WASSCE credits[5].
Is D7 accepted, and what grades do you need?
For General Duty, the 2025/26 notice asked for “five passes” in SSSCE/WASSCE including Mathematics and English. It did not ask for credits and did not list minimum grades[2]. The 2016 notice was stricter, asking for six credits (A1 to C6) including English Language and Mathematics[5].
Because the grade wording changes from one intake to the next, read the grade line in the notice for the cycle you are applying to. If you have a D7 in English or Mathematics, ask the Police recruitment office before you buy a voucher. Certificates are checked at the validation stage, and the 2016 notice said results are vetted with WAEC[5].
How did applications work in 2025/26?
No application window is open now, so do not buy a voucher until a new intake is officially announced. In the 2025/26 intake, every application went through the C-SERP portal at cserpgh.com, which also handled the Prisons, Fire and Immigration services[1]. The steps were[2]:
- Read the requirements for your category on the Ghana Police Service page of the portal.
- Buy a voucher at any GCB Bank branch or through the USSD code *713*03#, and name the Ghana Police Service as the agency you are applying to[1].
- Create an account with the voucher serial number and PIN.
- Complete the form with your personal, location and academic details, and upload your documents.
- Review and submit, then log in at any time to track the application.
The portal and the Ministry’s opening statement did not print the 2025/26 voucher price. The only official figure we found is historical: the 2016 Police voucher cost GH₵100[5]. When a new intake opens, confirm the price on the USSD menu or at the bank counter before you pay.
After the application window, shortlisted applicants were contacted. The 2025/26 stages included an aptitude test, document checks, medical examinations and a final validation of credentials[6]. For the document and body inspection held from 12 January to 4 February 2026, applicants were told to bring originals and photocopies of their application summary report, biometric birth certificate, Ghana Card, JHS certificate, other educational certificates and two passport photographs[7].
What disqualifies you?
Under the 2025/26 requirements, applicants were out if they were not Ghanaian by birth, were over the age limit for their category, fell below the height standard, had a criminal record or had been dismissed from any public service or other employment[2]. False information or forged documents lead to instant disqualification and possible prosecution[1].
Who do you contact with questions?
The Ghana Police Service lists these contacts for recruiting inquiries: +233 302 773906, +233 302 787373 and hq.pro@police.gov.gh[8]. Recruitment notices do not include a salary scale, so ask the Service directly rather than relying on figures from employer review sites.
The Prisons, Fire and Immigration services also recruited through C-SERP in 2025/26, but each service sets its own requirements and you choose the service when you buy the voucher[1]. Read the requirements for each service separately.
Try this today
- Measure your height barefoot and compare it with 173 cm (men) or 163 cm (women).

- Get out your WASSCE or SSSCE results and check you have the required passes, including English and Mathematics.
- Gather your Ghana Card, biometric birth certificate, JHS certificate and other certificates.
- When a new intake is announced, read the requirements on the C-SERP portal before you buy a voucher, and confirm the voucher price before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
Is Ghana Police recruitment open now?
No. The 2025/26 application window ran from 17 November to 19 December 2025 and has closed, and no new intake had been officially announced as of 19 October 2026[1]. Watch the Ghana Police Service and Ministry of the Interior for the next announcement.
What is the age limit for police recruitment in Ghana?
It depends on the category. For the 2025/26 intake, General Duty recruits had to be 18 to 30, degree-holding graduates up to 35, HND and diploma holders up to 32, most tradesmen up to 35, and medical specialists, chaplains and imams up to 40, measured on 1 November 2025 according to the Police requirements page[2]. Check the limits again when a new intake is announced, because they change between intakes.
Is D7 accepted for Ghana Police Service recruitment?
The 2025/26 notice asked General Duty applicants for five SSSCE/WASSCE passes including Mathematics and English, not credits, and did not list minimum grades. The 2016 notice asked for six credits (A1 to C6). If you have a D7 in English or Mathematics, ask the Police recruitment office before you buy a voucher.
What is the height requirement for women?
Women must be at least 5 feet 4 inches (163 cm) and men at least 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm)[2]. The same figures appeared in the 2016 notice.
Where do you buy the police recruitment voucher?
For the 2025/26 intake, vouchers were sold at any GCB Bank branch and through the USSD code *713*03#. Buyers had to name the Ghana Police Service as the agency. The official portal did not print the price, so confirm it before you pay.
Is there an official requirements PDF for the current year?
The 2025/26 requirements were published on the Ghana Police Service page of the C-SERP portal, not as a downloadable PDF[2]. Files circulating as requirement PDFs are often copies of older notices with old age limits and dates.
How can applicants spot fake recruitment agents?
The C-SERP Secretariat said people promising protocol placements or charging for recruitment slots are fraudsters, and the Police have told applicants not to pay anyone who claims they can help with recruitment[3]. Pay only for the voucher, through GCB Bank or the official USSD code.
What happens after the medical examination?
In the 2025/26 intake, applicants who passed the medical were invited in batches for validation of their certificates and other documents. The Police said the batches will continue until 2028, and those not yet invited remain under consideration. Appointment letters follow only after credentials have been verified[6].
