Solar installation in Ghana means a designed system of panels, inverter and battery storage fitted by an experienced installer, not panels alone. Home systems are usually sold as 3kW, 5kW or 10kW with battery backup. Most installers publish no prices, so get two written quotes for the same size before paying any deposit.
Updated October 2026
Solar panels are easy to buy in Accra, Kumasi or Tamale. Comparing installers is the hard part, because almost every company page argues for itself and few of them publish a price. This page puts the companies, the published figures and the questions side by side so you can shortlist two or three and ask for matched quotes.
How do the main solar installation companies in Ghana compare?
The table below is built from each company’s own website, so every cell is that company’s statement about itself rather than a WebsitesGH verdict. Listings were read on 13 October 2026.

Two details help you judge how settled a firm is. Nocheski Solar states over 20 years of combined experience and works from Tema and 10 Abeka Road, Tesano Commercial Plaza, Accra[3]. Suka Solar says that since its inception in 2009 it has supplied equipment and services to thousands of homes and businesses[4].
What does solar installation in Ghana actually cost?
Only one installer listed here publishes a complete installed price. Deep Solar Ghana prices its 3KW package at GHS 58,000 for a complete system with free professional installation and a 5-year system warranty[1]. Treat that as one vendor’s list price, not a market rate, and note that the page carries no date, so confirm it before you budget.
Labour alone is priced separately in classifieds. A Jiji seller in Madina lists solar panel installation at GH₵ 5,000 per service, covering new installations and maintenance[5]. Jiji Ghana showed 11 results for solar panel installation services, with 7 ads under solar panel installation and 6 from verified sellers[5]. Listing counts move, so read it as a snapshot.
Optima Solar Systems offers Pay-As-You-Go financing starting with a small deposit, bank financing for businesses and large systems, and full solar insurance[2]. Ask for the deposit, the term and the total amount payable in writing, because a monthly figure on its own tells you nothing about the cost of credit.
Are there free solar panels in Ghana?
None of the installers listed here advertises free panels. What exists is financing and, occasionally, charity. Deep Solar Ghana donated and installed a 6KW off-grid solar system at the Rebecca Akufo-Addo Sunshine Hostel for Children with Cancer at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital[1]. If anyone offers you panels for nothing, ask who pays and what you sign.
How many panels and what battery does an inverter size need?
Inverter rating and panel wattage are different numbers. The inverter sets how much power you can draw at once, the panels set how much energy you collect, and the battery sets how long you run after sunset. The donated system shows all three together: multiple 660W monocrystalline panels, two 5KWH lithium iron phosphate batteries and a 6KW hybrid inverter[1].
Say you copy that storage figure. Two batteries at 5KWH each gives 2 x 5 = 10 kWh of stored energy[1]. To match a hybrid inverter of that rating, you group enough 660W panels to approach it[1]. The installer should set out the panel count for your own load rather than a rule of thumb. Roof area and shading decide whether the full array fits; a surveyor measures that, you cannot assume it.
Which system is best for a house?
| Setup | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Hybrid with battery backup | Homes on the grid that want power through outages; sold as 3kW, 5kW and 10kW packages[2] | Costs more than panels alone because of the battery |
| Off-grid | Sites with no reliable supply, as with off-grid work in the Western Region[3] | Needs larger storage and tight load discipline |
| Commercial, custom sized | Shops, clinics and small factories; custom systems run from 5kW to 50kW[2] | Needs a measured load profile first |
Promises of round-the-clock power depend entirely on battery capacity against your daily load. Ask every installer for expected daily output in kWh and battery autonomy in hours, in writing.
Who covers which region?
Coverage claims differ in kind. Optima Solar Systems names five cities: Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast and Tamale[2]. Nocheski Solar claims work in all 16 regions, including Tema and the Western Region[3]. Some firms work across borders: the ENF Solar directory lists Axcon Energy as operating in Benin, DR Congo, Ghana and Togo, and Ceiling Experts in Ghana and Togo[6].
Start dates in the same directory show how young parts of this market are, with TBE recorded from 2011, Autostan Technology 2017, Mooved Solar Energy 2022 and Akopack Technologies 2023[6]. Many directory rows carry no start date or system size at all, so a listing is a lead, not a credential.
How do you check an installer before you sign?
Nocheski Solar’s installer guide sets out the basis. Solar systems are technological investments that require professional design and precise installation[3]. The best companies are those with years of on-site experience in the installation of residential and commercial solar power[3]. Not all solar panels and inverters are created equal[3], and leading firms use internationally recognised brands and keep every component to a high standard, from panels down to batteries and monitoring devices[3].
- Ask for a site survey before any quote, then a written proposal.
- Require equipment specifications, expected daily power output, battery life, payback period and estimated energy saving in the proposal[3].
- Get the named panel, inverter and battery brands, not just “high quality”.
- Ask what the warranty covers: panels, battery, inverter, labour, and for how long.
- Ask for two recent installations of your size and call those owners.
- Agree the after-sales response time and the maintenance schedule in the contract.
What is the normal order of work?
Survey, then design, then install, then maintain. Insist the inspection and energy survey comes first, so the design matches real consumption rather than a guess. Then ask whether maintenance and panel cleaning are handled after commissioning or billed as a separate service. Confirm which of those four steps is inside the price and which is billed later.
Try this today
- Write down your essential loads: fridge, lights, fans, TV, pump, router.
- Pick one size, 3kW, 5kW or 10kW[2], and request quotes for that same size from two companies in the table.
- Ask both for expected daily output in kWh, battery autonomy in hours and the warranty terms.
- Compare the two proposals line by line, then negotiate.
For training, equipment suppliers and energy firms beyond the names above, browse the WebsitesGH Oil, Gas & Energy directory and the Education & Training directory for technical courses. If you are also handling water supply on the same property, our guide to borehole drilling companies in Ghana uses the same compare-before-you-pay approach.
How this page was checked
Every company detail here was read from that company’s own website or listing on 13 October 2026, plus the ENF Solar installer directory and the Jiji Ghana category page. The Nocheski guide carries a 2026-01-04 modification date and the Optima page 2026-05-10; the Deep Solar Ghana, Suka Solar and Jiji pages are undated, so prices and counts on them may have moved. WebsitesGH has not installed or inspected any of these systems.
Frequently asked questions
How many solar panels do I need for a 2.5 kVA inverter?
Panel count depends on panel wattage and your daily energy use, not on the inverter brand. One documented Ghanaian build used 660W monocrystalline panels[1], so you divide your target array size by that panel wattage. Ask the installer to show the sizing on paper, with daily kWh consumption, roof space and shading, before you accept any quote.
How much does a 3kW solar system cost in Ghana?
One installer publishes a complete price: Deep Solar Ghana lists its 3KW package at GHS 58,000 including free professional installation and a 5-year system warranty[1]. Other companies on this search publish sizes but no prices, for example 3kW, 5kW and 10kW packages with battery backup[2]. Ask two installers for written quotes for the same size and compare the line items.
How much does it cost to install 1000 solar panels?
Projects of that size are priced from a measured load profile and a site survey, not from a per panel list price. Optima Solar Systems, for example, builds custom commercial systems from 5kW to 50kW[2]. An array on that scale is tendered rather than bought off a shelf, so ask two or three firms for written designs and quotes.
Which solar companies serve Accra?
Optima Solar Systems names Accra among the cities it serves, alongside Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast and Tamale[2]. Nocheski Solar operates from Tema and 10 Abeka Road, Tesano Commercial Plaza, Accra[3]. Electricons Ghana Company Ltd is listed in Nungua, Greater Accra[5], and Deep Solar Ghana gives a contact address at UPSA Road, Madina[1].
What should a written solar quote in Ghana include?
It should show equipment specifications, expected daily power output, battery life, payback period and estimated energy saving[3]. Add the named panel, inverter and battery brands, battery autonomy in hours, warranty length and what it covers, the after-sales response time, and whether the survey, installation and first maintenance visit are inside the price or billed separately.
Where can I find solar installation training in Ghana?
Training is advertised alongside installation by some suppliers, including solar energy training for technicians and installers. Because course dates and fees change often, check the provider directly rather than relying on a cached page. The WebsitesGH Education and Training directory lists technical and vocational providers you can contact, and local electrical contractors often take on apprentices for on-site experience.
