Bogoso-Prestea is a historic gold mine in the Western Region, in production on and off since 1912. After a roughly two-year shutdown, it was restarted by Ghanaian-owned Heath Goldfields, which poured first gold in February 2026.
Heath Goldfields, which is 90 percent Ghanaian-owned, has a five-year plan targeting about 285,000 ounces a year, backed by a Trafigura offtake and financing agreement signed in 2026.
The mine is owned by Heath Goldfields Ltd, a Ghanaian company, which took over the distressed asset in late 2024 after the previous operator’s licence was revoked.
